Hi all,
This is the first time I’ve looked at the site without finding something fundamentally wrong with it. There are definitely a lot of things I want to improve, but nothing I want to remove entirely. I didn’t communicate this in my previous bulletin post, but the book section was *really* bothering me. I knew I wanted a book there and I couldn’t think of something that would be better (within my web development skills), but I only had vague ideas of what I wanted on it, and even vague-er ideas of how to implement those elements. I now know that I want the writing journal to feature extensive works in Oneira (the world of Armageddon Wake), more personal diary entries, “shrines” (they seem fun), dream journal entries (something I’m gradually becoming more interested in as I have very vivid dreams), and things I wrote while high. I’m not actually sure if I’ll include that last one, though. Just something I think would be cool.
I’m lucky enough to have a few changes in mind that I know exactly how to make. I don’t really like how the heading images are slightly higher than the headings themselves, which shouldn’t be too difficult of a fix. I’m also not sure if I want *every* heading to have images (mainly the “Literary Vomit” one and maybe the journal one), so I can just remove them for a little bit to see if I end up missing them. I want to replace the “to-do” section with a microblogging/status update section instead, because I feel like if anyone’s interested enough to want to know what I have in mind for the site, they’d probably just skim through these bulletin posts, which function as both a changelog and to-do section (rendering both unnecessary).
I’m not quite as sure about how I’ll implement this, but I know I want more decorative pictures in the site. I feel like I have enough substance to compliment with “empty” décor. Having this décor may make the aesthetics of the site pop without the need for the images around my headers, which I’m not sure if I’ll like completely even after fixing their positions. I’m also not sure what the future holds for Sven, but for now he can stay. Right now he’s kind of just filling empty space, though.
When I finish adding the table of contents I have in mind to the journal along with all the smaller changes, I think I’ll finally feel inclined to start adding more content to this site. I have a small backlog of Oneira content that I *can* put up, but because of my writing process, I’m not sure at what point in the greater narrative any of it will actually take place. I might focus on cleaning up what exists of Armageddon Wake, which I now think of as more of a prologue to the greater story. I’d go into more detail, but I think that’d be more in the spirit of a journal post, so I’ll leave that for tomorrow (probably). Also, when I start making those, these bulletin posts might start being more concise. I’ll save my yapping for over there.
Thanks for reading,
Luke
